NEW Auto Insurance Compliance Regulations at the Rhode Island DMV!!!

February 10, 2015

The NEW Auto Insurance Compliance Regulations at the Rhode Island DMV are effective now!!!

They could affect YOU!!!

Here’s is what is being done.  The registry of motor vehicles has hired an outside vendor to verify that you have insurance on your vehicles.

You will be fined if you don’t have insurance!

When we insured your vehicles we asked you to give us the vehicle identification number (VIN) for your vehicle.  It’s 17 digits long and a combination of numbers and letters. (you can only imagine how many of these VIN numbers are not entered perfectly).

If the VIN on your insurance policy does not match the VIN  that is on record with the registry of motor vehicles  your car will be identified as uninsured and you could get a letter from the registry which would include a FINE.**

HERE IS THE GOOD NEWS!

If we insure your vehicle we can fix the problem with a just a phone call from you.  Have your registration with you when you call and we will get your insurance policy to reflect the correct VIN number and make sure the registry gets properly notified that you have an INSURED VEHICLE.

Most VIN numbers will match, but in the case that yours does not, we will quickly correct the problem.

Between the records at the registry of motor vehicles and the insurance company records there are bound to be some discrepancies. We want you to know, as your agent, we are here to correct any problems that arise. We’re not sure how much press this will get so we wanted to make sure our clients were ready for the change.
