Insurance Challenge: E-Bikes

Insurance Challenge: E-Bikes

March 06, 2024

Electric bikes are becoming more popular and they also present liability risks that you should be aware of when you purchase these bikes. These bikes are covered automatically for being stolen or damaged under your Homeowner’s Policy.

Now, once you ride these bikes away from your Residence Premises (Your House Lot) and cause property damage to other bikes, buildings, or cars there is no Liability Coverage. More importantly, if you cause an accident that results in Bodily Injury to other people, again no coverage.

It is imperative if you own one of these bikes, you call your agent. We now have access to a Standalone E-Bike Insurance Policy with an annual cost of under $100 to protect you when riding these motorized bikes.

The more you know…..The better protected your Life Assets will be.

  • E-bikes not listed in Progressive's list of acceptable e-bikes may be acceptable as Other.
